Fall Inspiration

The colors are out and so was I.  Taking a hint from Mother Nature, I decided to do a mock shoot that is inspired by my favorite season, Fall.  With crisp air, crunchy leaves and the scent of a fall afternoon surrounding us, we headed deep into the heart of the Yellow Dog for this Inspiration Board Shoot. I just love the simplicity of the dress and the bouquets that were hand-picked along the roadside.  Enjoy!

Captain & Mrs. Leaf - Sept., 25th

This wedding was unlike any other that I have seen, and as a recent bride, I have seen lots of weddings.  The bride wore a beautiful vintage-style red mermaid gown that was paired with classic curls and clean white flower accents. And to top it off, she completed her inspired style with brown leather boots that matched the girls in the wedding party.  The location could not have been more breath-taking, a modern revival house deep in the woods of the Upper Peninsula during the height of the fall colors season.  It was truly a joy to shoot Leslie and Jim as it is obvious that they have what it takes to make love work (and have a blast doing it.) It's obvious to me because it shines in each of their photographs.  Thank you for sharing with me!

An Afternoon in the Park

This sunny afternoon, I took advantage of not having evening classes and got to spend time with a dear friend of mine.  Michie, her two boys and I went to the park to climb around until school let out.  The one good thing about being in Grad School is that I have lots of time to take photos.  She has such an adorable family and they are so fun to shoot!  Here are the results!  Thanks, Michie!  I hope that you like them!

Iowa Bound

So for my birthday (29 if you must know) I went back to Iowa to spend the weekend with my best friend, Sam, and her family.  We spent the beautiful weekend camping at a cabin on the Wapsipinicon had birthday cake for breakfast.  Here are some of the highlights:

The Art of Wedding

Though I did not take these photos (obviously as I am in them) I did do all of my own editing.  It was in working with my own wedding that I really feel in love with the intellectual montage-style of collage.  I like to work several photos against one another for a more dramatic effect. A style that, I have a hunch, will be appearing more often in my work.  This is a collection of my collage-style editing and Danielle Pemble's beautiful photography!  Enjoy.

Meghan & Michael

Meghan & Mike were married this summer at his mothers cabin in Downstate Michigan, but before the nuptials, I got the chance to shoot an engagement session for the happy couple!  They make such a great team and I was happy to be a part of their day!  Congrats guys!

Deirdre's Birthday

Yesterday we celebrated the 32nd wonderful year of D! Party hats included!  Happy Birthday D!

Kellyann & Josh

My great friend, Kellyann, and her fiance, Josh, are getting married in just a couple more months.(It is going by too fast.)   This July the four of us went to the fireworks together and an impromptu photo-shoot arose. These are the images that came of that night!  I love you, Kelly. You will be the most beautiful bride!

Everybody's got a dream...

And this is mine.  I have decided to put my money where my mouth is, pick my cameras back up to go out and do what it is that I love to do. Here is a sampling of my ever growing portfolio.

Lori Lynn

This first session is a shoot that I did one sunny afternoon with my friend, Lori. We dressed her all up and drug her all over town to shoot these. She was a very good sport about the whole thing and her legs look A-mazing!   Mostly taken in my apartment, I just love how they turned out! Thanks, Lori!

Gator

Gary never had his senior pictures taken (too macho for that) So when we first started dating, we went out and shot some for his mom to put on the mantel. Gary calls these his, "Album Cover Photos".  I could see that!

Bridge Club

These are two of my favorite Bridges because the tall one leads downstate to the people we love and the other leads to the back roads that love us. I am a sucker for a good bridge. What can I say?

Well Hello there...

I guess this is it?  I am on the blog train.  (Don't you want to ride it, ride it?) I am not sure what direction this little monster is going to take, but I figured that it was time that I put away stubborn attitudes toward technology and try to conduct myself in a more future friendly manner.
Where does one begin on a Blog?  Introductions? Thesis Statement? No, I think that I will keep you all on the edge of your seats. After all, I can't give you too much at one time or you will learn to expect things from me and I can't promise that this whole experiment won't ultimately fail. (Blog today, gone tomorrow.)  So, we'll leave it here for now.

Happy Wednesday!
